I'm still feeling generous so I thought I would share more fabric. It would make sense, then, to show you the fabric I plan to give away. Yes, that would make perfect sense. Unfortunately, my camera is not cooperating right now so I can't download the photos. You'll just have to trust me.
Come on, you know I can pick the good stuff. I love putting together based on colour and feel. In fact, quite often I will just pull fabric from my stash for some imaginary quilt. Maybe I'll bring home a new fabric that I bought just because. Just because I liked it. So I hit the stash and see what I have that works with it. Maybe I'll even put that grouping aside for a while and let it simmer. Maybe I'll let The Monster help me and see what she comes up with. Maybe I'll even start a project then and there. No pattern, no plan, just a pile of fabric and a little inspiration along the way.
For the giveaway please leave a comment telling me how you pick fabric for a quilt - does the fabric comes first or the pattern/design? And tell me which colourway you prefer:
Yellow/pink
Green/Orange/Yellow
Red/Aqua
Green/Blue
Brown/Blue
I will pull from my stash 6 fat quarters in the winners choice colourway. And I have no problem shipping internationally (I'm in Canada) so please drop me a comment by May 31
Don't forget to visit the Sew Mama Sew Giveaway site to see the rest of the blog giveaways. There is some good stuff out there. Feel free to explore a little here too.

Red/ Aqua sounds great!
Love your blog!
Hi there
What a lovely site - it msy first visit & definitely not my last. I love red/aqua combinations and unfortunately i seem to have an addiction to fabric - so that seems to come first for me
Bye for now
kirk.gunzeon@virgin.net
For me the fabric comes first - I tend to get my ideas there and then try to make a quilt, etc.
If I was lucky enough to win I'd like a yellow/pink colourway (I have a little girl and want to girlie her up!)
Brown/Blue, but I'll have to admit, I've never made a quilt!
Hugs & Blessings!
For me, sometimes the fabric wants to be a quilt and sometimes the pattern requires that specific fabric! I'm a big blue fan!!
I think i do both. I look at fabric and try to figure out in my head what quilt would be best for it, then try to find other fabrics. This is why I spend hours and days (online fabric shopping) trying to get it together. Then most times I change halfway through and end up with lots of unused fabric. Which is completely fine by me. :)
I love yellow/pink quilts. Or red/aqua.
Thanks for your giveaway...so much fun!
Em
USUALLY its the pattern that chooses the fabric, but now and then I let my fabric talk me into trying something new just to show it off.
I love all the colorways you have listed, but I think green/blue works best for me :)

It is so much fun selecting fabrics for a new project! Right now I'd lean more towards the green/orange/yellow for some reason.
I sometimes see fabrics that I "need" and then decide later what to do with them. Other times I see a pattern that I'd like to do and then choose from what's already in my stash. I rarely pick a pattern and then go out to buy fabrics for it.
I would love a red/aqua colorway. I see it everywhere and love it. BTW -- love your blog title. I'm a naptime quilter too. = )

I usually fall in love with a fabric or two and then choose others to accent those. I love greens and pinks together, but of your choices the Red/Aqua sounds beautiful!
Sometimes I pick fabric first, sometimes design dictates the fabric I choose. I am flexible that way.
Red and Aqua sound good to me, of course so do blue and green. I am easy to please.
Is there anything better than a surprise??!! Lately, I've been in love with red/aqua; each color just makes the other pop!
I usually pick up fabric that inspired me, then work from there!

Pink/Yellow
I decide on the colors by whom I am making the quilt for. Oldest daughter liked blue when I made her's. It ended up being blue and green. Thanks for the chance to win and I love a mystery.
I would pick Yellow/Pink and I JUST picked out the colors for my first quilt. All others have been in a kit, so I didn't pick the colors by themselves. I don' have a method yet. I still had to ask the salesperson for help!
I often see/envision the design first and then go to the fabrics. I'd like the blue/brown colorway, as most of my stash is other colors and I'd like branch out.
lurve red & aqua, buuut, I'm currently working on a gossamery light blue with whites, and having a very hard time finding those not quite white blues sooo blues & greens please. PS love your translation of the limes & graham crackers, it's jsut right.
ps. Forgot to say how I pick fabrics, sometimes I base it on the original quilt but most of the time I pick what suits me and my decor & mood, and the pattern. So usually I pick the pattern first and mold the fabrics to work with it.
Hmmm, good question, and I've never really thought about it much. I guess I usually pick fabric first and then a pattern to go with it, but I think I've done it both ways.
And I love the yellow/pink please-a happy combo. Great giveaway!

I never go into a fabric store with a project in mind - i always buy fabric that i completely love :)
And I'm actually expecting my first baby in 2 months and am doing her nursery in yellows, pinks, and browns, so thats the colorway i choose!
Fabric first! I've recent;y been loving aqua and red together, but practically in our house brown and blue look best.
I don't know how I pick fabric yet- I haven't quite stated my first quilt yet! I think that it is designs first so far- have about 3 picked out and I just need to pick fabric!
I think I pick the fabric first, then figure out a pattern I want to use. I think I'm digging the red/aqua combo at the moment. :)
Very fun to look at your blog. Lovely projects! :)
I haven't made my first quilt, yet. I'm planning to this summer. I would think fabrics would come first for me. I love earth tones. Brown/Blue would be the best fit for me.
Thanks for such a nice giveaway!
I'm just starting to sew, but I plan to tackle quilting in the (near) future. I definitely am attracted by designs first.
Blue-green would be my colorway of choice.
red and aqua are a fun colorway - gender neutral and punchy! i buy lots of fabric that i just love, with no project i mind; and often i find a project, and go in search of the perfect fabric; and sometimes they two just merge together in harmony!

For me, fabric choice comes first! I might think I know what I'm going to do, but once I bring home that new fabric all the old plans go out the window, and I have to make a new plan to show off what I bought, and use up what I've got! (heh, that rhymed!)
OOOh! Red and aqua for me please!! Sounds like a summer project... Mebbe a beach blanket?... ;D
xoxoxo Jaime
Definitely brown / blue. And I haven't made any quilts other than baby ones which are just squares. And I pick all the cute fabric, and then figure out which to put together!
Thanks for the giveaway!

I'd have to say green/blue. I'm just started on my quilting adventure, working on a polka dot log cabin right now. I would like to tackle a spider web quilt some day!
I love the brown blue combo - Not a quilter but I am an artist - I usually start with shapes first then color. When I sew clothes - that's the order I use as well.
I love green/blue. I usually pick the fabric first, then the pattern, to complement the fabric.
Great question. My answer is that it depends! If I see a fabric I just love I make a quilt to showcase the fabric- usually with larger prints I do this. But, I am planning to make up a raw edge applique quilt pattern that I just recently fell in love with so am currently looking for some brights, which I don't usually work in, to go with the pattern- so I guess I do both! In light of this, I would probably choose the green/ orange/ yellow option!
Thanks for the giveaway,
Tanya
For me sometimes the fabric comes first, sometimes the pattern, there is no set way inspiration hits me.
The Yellow/Pink combo sounds lovely!

Gotta be green/ blue altho blue/brown would be pushing my boundries so either is cool!
I pick by colour first altho depending on the project, ie how big the pieces are, the pattern can also be important!!

I normally have the pattern first, and then pick the fabrics. Although I do sometimes go the other way around. Fabric is too pretty sometimes and you just have to find a place for it.
I love Blues and greens, and Red/Aqua.
Thanks for doing the giveaway!

As a beginner sewer I am yet to make a quilt, one day I will though. My favourite colour combo is Brown and Blue, I just love them to bits and I bet my first quilting project will be made with this colour scheme :D

Fabric is a bad addiction... You don't ever have enough... we're having a give away too...

For me, the fabric always comes first. It can be kind of tricky to find the right pattern, but it's definitely the fabric that inspires me. My old favorites on the color wheel are without a doubt green/blue, but I have been really enjoying the red/aqua combo lately. Even though my project table is FULL with other quilt projects and bags to make, I'm thinking of making a new quilt for the bed just to have some more red and aqua around the house. Thanks so much for your generous giveaway and HAPPY SEWING!

I usually pick the pattern first.. may have seen someone elses quilt and want to try my hand at it and then try to find fabrics that make the quilt different than my example. make sense? would LOVE to try mixing red and aqua..never really thought of those two together. thanks for the extra inspiration and the giveaway.

thanks!

fabric for me. green/blue this time, thanks!
rossmer[at]gmail[dot]com
I'd love the red/aqua!
For me it depends on the quilt, sometimes I have a pattern and look for the fabrics to create a certain effect (bold, shabby chic, baby), but sometimes I love the fabrics and try to make something out of them to display the designs!
It's addictive!!!
Thank you so much for the great giveaway and the chance to win!
What a generous giveaway - count me in! I love all the color choices but red/aqua especially.
Ohh, totally sign me up for the brown/blue. Here's hoping!
I usually find the fabric first, then have to plan a project around it. At least for quilts.
I like brown/blue, but also blue/green.
Red and aqua or blue and brown. I pick fabric then design. But sometimes it's design and then fabric.
yellow/pink for me!
I pick fabric based on what I last sewed with. I just got done a quilt with blues/yellows and I was dying to sew with pinks and purples. I also pick one fabric I LOVE and work around that!
Wow! I've only made one quilt thus far. I chose the fabrics and remembered a pattern I had seen somewhere and just did the "winging it" sort of thingie! Actually came out right nice!
If I win I'd love green/blue.
Thanks!
I almost always choose the fabrics first. I love red/ aqua combo lately;) nice finding your blog
I do a little of both, sometimes it is a pattern and sometimes it is the fabric that speaks first. I love all combos, but probably tend to gravitate more toward green/orange/yellow combo. I love surprises, so I totally love that you haven't shown your giveaway!
I tend to go fabric first & I love pink/yellow!
I prefer the brown and blue combo. Fabric comes first of course, and then the pattern!
so, i don't quilt....do you still like me? ;) i do sew and i do adore fabric. blue and brown are one of my fave combos. thanks for the opportunity!
Usually I buy a bunch of fabrics and then decide on a design to put them together with. I like the green/orange/yellow combo.
For me the pattern always comes first. Then I have the delightful job of picking fabrics.
I like the yellow/pink colors.
blue/green is yummy, but red/aqua is very fun to!
i've only managed to finished a few quilts, and they've all been different! a few of them were started with the pattern first, searching out the perfect fabric for them, but most were more like stash quilts, where i looked at what fabric i had, and then decided which quilt pattern they would work for!
