Girlie - Next Round

Yesterday I was able to play around with my last round on the Girlie quilt I posted. My original plan was to echo the chopsticks technique of the center block. Here it is.

But it didn't look right to me. Something about that flower applique made this all a bit too traditional in feel and the improv seemed disjointed. I also felt like it needed more pink than anything, not just the white as I'd said.

So I pulled out my pink, black, and white chopsticks blocks. They are now the nice start of another girlie baby quilt.

Then I made these wavy strips. The wave isn't that noticeable from a distance, but it is there, trust me. A small echo of the wavy line of the applique. Now to decide which way to place them. And what I should put in the corners. Any suggestions?

Oh I love how you added the wavy strips! Makes the pink pop- I like the last layout, with the large print on the outside. Maybe repeat the flowers in the corner?

What about using one of the chopstick blocks in the corners or put another pink flower applique there to tie in the applique border? Beautiful quilt you have going there!

Yes, I love version 2. And the other blocks will make a great quilt.

That large print on the inside pulls it together, Cheryl. Those round robins are tough.

I'm no expert, but here's my opinion. I like the large pink print being closest to the inside. It makes the pink stand out more and I think it pulls the whole quilt together in a great way. Maybe you could use black in the corners with pink or white applique flowers? I'm looking forward to seeing how you finish this quilt and especially what backing and binding you use. Thanks for sharing your process.

I think you needed a big flower in the corner! Such a cute quilt.

I was thinking EXACTLY the same as Nancy. I like the paler pink on the outside and I was thinking blaxk squares with pink flowers.
I think this is going to be a beautiful little quilt. I'm a tad jealous :-)

I like the second lay out. And a flower in the top left hand corner.
Looking goood. Like the mixture of fabric.
