Mountain Meadows

I have this quilt in mind. In fact, I've had it in mind for a year. We went on our first family hike in the mountains near us. It was a gorgeous day, everyone had fun, and I was completely taken with the mountain meadows. One usually focuses on the view, but I couldn't stop staring at the little bits of colour in the flowers all around us.  And now I hope to capture some of that magic in a quilt.

The inspiration:

Gathering fabrics, courtesy of Modern Quilt Guild members who responded to a plea for solid green scraps. Yes, solids. I'm pushing myself here! Now, let's see where this goes.

Beautiful inspiration! Looking forward to seeing what comes from the green scraps. I can see little fragments of red and purple representing the flowers.

The inspiration is beautiful. The greens look great. Can't wait to see where it all goes.

can't wait to see where you take this! I am sooo scared of solids! I find them intimidating! That is my goal this fall! To made a couple of quilts with mostly solids. Wish me luck! and I'll be watching you for inspiration on your mountain meadow topper!

Do you need more green solids? It would be my pleasure to send you some as I am drowning in SCRAPS.

I love greens. Can't wait to see what you're going to do with them. I made my first all solids quilt not long ago and I'm sold. Not that I'll ever ever give up on gorgeous prints. Have to have my Kaffe fix every time new ones come out.

Do you want some more? I've just finished a solids improv in green - it was a stretch for me using just solids but I love the result. Anyways, I have a number of green solids left - let me know if you'd like me to send some over.
