I'm making progress on our anniversary quilt. These were some of the blocks yesterday. The blocks are 30" by 35''. By the end of the night I had the top together. It wasn't hard, there are only 9 of these giant blocks together to make up the king-sized quilt top.
The design for this top comes directly from Kananaskis. When Hubby saw it he said it was one of his favourite quilts I'd ever made. I knew I was going to do big blocks, but that pretty much sealed the deal.
So, I've got 6 weeks to finish it up. Once I work up the energy and flexibility to baste the thing. Did I mention it was king-sized?
Are Xs the hugs or kisses of Xs and Os? I routinely have this debate with my husband. I say Xs are the kisses and he argues the opposite. These are the things you talk about after almost 16 years together. What does it matter so long as there are still Xs and Os in your life?

the 'x's are definitely the kisses, although I have no idea why! I really love the colours you chose and can't awit to see the finished quilt!
The X's are hugs and O's are kisses! :D
x's are kisses. Way back in the Middle Ages when people couldn't sign their names, they signed with an x and then kissed the x - at least that's the way I learned it! I love the quilt blocks! ~Jeanne
I debate this too. I always thought the Xs were the hugs because you cross your arms around in an X. Os were the shape of your lips. However, depending on how people pucker, the lips may look more like Xs. To make matters simple in my mind, I've resigned from the debate and use them in pairs so I have the hugs and kisses covered with my xoxo.
Did I hear you say this is king sized? LOL I can't wait to see it together! X's and O's either way I love it!!
great blocks!!! what size are they? I could see myself making 15" blocks in that style :-) I'm all about making a smaller amount of BIG blocks than a gazillion small blocks. I'm just lazy though. haha
I've always thought the x's were kisses and the o's were hugs.
Can't wait to see all the blocks together!
So, I just asked my husband what he thought, and he voted for hugs as the x. And I totally disagree! I am so freaking excited to get your book in my hot little hands! So glad you and Amanda got to open yours together! It (the PDF version I got to glance through) is so, so fantastic! Wishing you a fantastic birth experience, and really hoping to meet you in KC!
Beautiful! I never realized there was disagreement on what the x's and o's were. I think x's are kisses (because it "marks the spot" of the kiss... and x's are more "racy"!) and o's are the hugs because your arms go around the person!
Here's what Wikipedia says:

The quilt will be great!
This quilt is going to be awesome! How I remember these colours so well! All I know is that I am glad I did not have to be dressed in the same colour as Natasha!! Her all tall and skinny and me the tomato!!
The child who shares this special day with you says the Xs are the kisses and the Auntie Cheryl is right! I think someday we (and by we I mean you) will have to take the tomato dress and encorporate it into a quilt for the girl. Maybe when she turns 16 ...
Funny debate. I always thought the X's were kisses and the O's were hugs.
