Connect the Dots

Connect the Dots
22'' by 26''

My entry to the Fuddy is not Duddy Challenge. We said it was for brown, burgundy, and green, plus one other colour. I chose blue because so many of the fabrics with mixed colours include this light blue.

The design I chose is inspired by this quote from Steve Jobs:

"You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future."

I had something entirely different in mind until I saw that quote. It made for a much simpler quilt, but I love the finished product.

For some unknown reason I have loads of this fabric on the back. Loads of it.

Machine bound... Don't look too close. In fact, don't look too close at much of it. This is how I made most of the quilt. It was either this or a very extended game of Red Light/Green Light.

Wow! That blue just pops! Love the design and the quote (so true!) and the quilting is so fun.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one quilting with their child on their lap. I completely understand!

I too occasionally have a kiddo on my lap while quilting! I Think it is ok as it give physical closeness and the child is together with you doing your everyday stuff.
And I love the quilt too!

Looking close I see that you are definitely connected. Great little quilt.

awww....what a sweet photo of you and your child. My son always wants to "help" me sew, except now he's old enough push all the knobs and buttons and often messes up my tension!

What a sweet photo of you quilting with your little one. Mine love to sit with me at the machine but my youngest recently "redecorated" my sewing machine with permanent textas!
Love the circles and the way you were inspired by that quote.

What a great quote to be inspired by... I had read that just the other day, and it spoke to me as well. The blue on this piece is very pretty and the quilting is really fun!

And that photo of you and your little one... the crossroads of preciousness and patience!!

That blue is such a bold choice! Nicely done, Cheryl -- definitely not fuddy-duddy! Ah, the challenges we face in getting our projects done, eh? Love the photo of you and your little one.

Gorgeous! It looks as though the little dots are jumping up and down - brilliant! Thanks for this challenge.
Ah yes, sewing with Small People on our laps is just the thing as the weather gets cooler... My daughter discovered the little brush in the machine and now always wants to 'clean' it whenever I sew. Very 'helpful'! Juliet

That is just the sweetest photo. I hadn't thought of playing red light/green light with Brice... Quilting is very difficult these days with him.

Not duddy at all! I think your idea was great and the quilting enhances it perfectly.

What timing given Steve Job's recent passing. I think the quilting really adds to the design of the dots and that picture of you with your daughter, hmmm. So sweet.

Gorgeous. And even more impressive considering your "helper"!
