Water Version 5

Okay, I'm changing things up again. But in reading through all the comments I think I need to try a few more things before I settle down and make a decision.  You've come up with really interesting ideas. Good challenges too.

Before I go making any more changes, what do you think of this one?  So far the basket weave effect has had mixed reviews. This one builds off that overall effect, but I think it might be a bit more balanced in composition.  What do you think?

We're off for the weekend and unless the weather cooperates next week I'm not sure if I'll get a chance to play with layouts again soon. You've given me SO much more to think about.  Thanks again for all your opinions.

oh, boy! I like this one, too. Kinda makes me think of a ripple.

and, you could quilt it in a big concentric 1/4 circle starting down in that right hand corner. ;) yup, you are on to something!

of the basketweave ones, this is my favorite!

I like it! The points it the middle sort of remind me of waves breaking. I think I like this one the best so far. It is the one that most reminds me of water.

Can I just come over and we can play?
I love doing this kind of thing...
It's way to difficult to say. But I think you will have fun playing a bit more!

Sorry I'm no help.

I think I like this one better than v 3 & 4. I've been pondering this conundrum (in my dreams?!?), and a variation of v.3 is what I've come up with! In my dreams, all the strips are aligned along the length of the piece (rather than the width), and the pieces are placed so the breaks are higgldy piggly (I seem to like that term ;-)), kind of like you were laying uneven sized bricks. Does that make any sense at all? That way you'll be keeping the integrity of the wavy intention you originally had?!?

I'm an Aussie country girl at heart, and my thoughts of water tend to include little creeks, gentle river rapids and majestic waterfalls :-), and the beaches we spent time at while I was growing up were swimming beaches where the water behaved somewhat predictably! It seems that everyone's experience with water is influencing our comments - what sort of water do you dream of?

This is looking interesting. Keep on going, you seem to have a "conversation" going with this piece. Keep talking! Fun stuff!

sorry i missed this whole series...how fun is this to play with layouts with feedback. have you thought about an angular section in there somewhere? just a thought...may make the water less serene like it is in these layouts.

This one works also. When I squint at it and hold my fingers up like a picture frame (just like photographers do, although I am no photographer, mind you), I can get a better view of it. It cuts off all the ragged edges.
Thanks for the fun. I was looking forward to another version.

I LOVE this one!

I really like this one, but it looks upside down to me! I'm turning my head upside down to see it in the "correct" orientation in my mind!

I kinda like this one and 3.
But I also have to agree with Jacquie, I think I would be alot more angular and less perpendicular or straight stripy.
I stopped following butI really loved this series. Reminded me of art class. I may try it myself.
Thanks.

How fun are you having with this whole series? I wish I had been here from the beginning. I love the fabrics!! I love your experiments too. Personally, I don't think you can go wrong no matter what you do with fabrics like this. Have it quilted with a water type quilting and it'll be gorgeous no matter what!!!
