Water Version 2

Hmm, some very good and frank comments yesterday.  Thank-you so much. There is already more for me to think about.

This is v2.  v1 did not include all the pieces I made.  You can see that this version has those sections of more random, smaller pieces in the middle.  This design builds out from those pieces.

Oh, and to answer a question from yesterday, these layouts are probably about 70 or 80 inches by about 50-60 inches.  I'm just estimating.

So, thoughts on v2?

I'm liking this one more - my eye keeps moving. which is what i think of in respect to water - it always moves!

I like this one more!

I like this one better. The other just seemed a bit too disconnected, which doesn't suit the theme of water.
This version flows.

I agree this one has more movement. Also, since you did such a great job with quilting grass I'm sure something equally fabulous will work well with this layout.

I think I like this one better. I like all the smaller pieces, I also like that you have multiple strips going the same direction but they're not all the same length. It give it a nice movement and makes it look less like a basketweave and more watery.

What if the vertical strips in the middle were a little offset from each other?

I definitely like this one better. I'm not sure I can tease out exactly what I like more, but it is just more pleasing to me. And it says 'water' more to me also. Beautiful, I LOVE the colors.

I am loving this second version as well. It has more movement and more for the eye to take in. You've made a really good selection of fabrics - restful but still cheerful.

I like this one more than yesterday's - it seems to have more balance or something? Sadly, I don't seem to have developed the skill of saying what I do and don't like about art and creative things - I just like it or I dont! Really helpful, I know ;-)

oh, dear. Now on my home 'puter this is much darker. It seems greener and I'm not seeing water. I think I liked 1 better. This seems more contrived but I guess water could be choppy and you can quilt the wave curls.

for me this one is more "field of freshly planted" I think its the cross in the center. I like it better than yesterdays though. :)
Seems like it has more grey in it.
I really like the color of the mid-right vertical section.

I like this one, all except the upper left side. Too many verticals all together.... I think that parts needs to be broken up a little.

Me too..I like this one better than the 1st one. I don't really know why exept that I like how it builds out from the center.

I'll make my final decision when I see all of the different layouts.

Don't work too hard.

This is my favorite version up to version 5. With the name Water, it reminds me of a whirlpool and the sense of movement is perfect with the color and the name. The other layouts are too "angular" which doesn't make sense as this version has lots of angles too, but that's the best description I can give it. Water version 1 would be really interesting if some sort of allusion to land could be made to make the center strip look like a flowing river but at this point--too angular :)
