This was the stack of slabs a week ago. A few more hundred added, a few hundred taken away to make quilts. Total count as of this morning is over 1900 slabs received, not counting finished tops that have been sent.
Last week my sister-in-law, Lee, and Andrea came over to have an afternoon of sewing to get some quilt tops done. It was a fun, frenzied afternoon. We ended the day with 12 tops done. A few bundles of slabs taken home for more sewing, and prep for more sewing. Only 80 some more tops to get done!
This response is overwhelming! In a good way. I'll be honest, I'd hoped I would get 100-200 slabs for quilts. To get 10 times that is insanely awesome! One way or another these quilts will get done and donated to flood victims. If anyone local wants to assemble tops, quilt, or bind then let me know. Another sew day is set up for today and I'm putting together sets of blocks for people in town who can assemble quilts at home.
It's really fun putting together these quilts. Playing with colour and ideas is addictive. Here is the first crop of quilts, enjoy the show!

Wow, those all look fantastic! Keep up the good work, I'm sure they will mean the world to their recipients.
Magnificent! How exciting!
They look wonderful! What a great thing you girls are doing.
The tops look fantastic ! They are so bright and colorful, sure to bring some light into their recipients surroundings. I got kinda giddy when I picked out one of my blocks in one of the photos. This is such a generous undertaking for you and all the others involved. Best wishes.
What a lot of work you've done! And what good works you've started.

Wow, so much fun to see all the quilt tops in the works. I know I enjoyed making my blocks, so I will have to use your slabs for some other charity quilts down the road. Thanks for showing some to us.
Çheryl I SO wish I lived closer! I would bind my heart out for you! But I don't think my husband would let me make the 28 hour trip (give or take an hour or three!)
They are shaping up beautifully!
Wow! What amazing quilt tops and quilts. Every one a beauty. And each one will be comfort to someone.

Wow, you are doing great and what a wonderful bunch of quilts this is going to produce. If you have any left to sew in September I could help out from Edmonton.
These are amazing, I love all the colour, they will really brighten someones day. I have a question what is a slab? Here in Australia we have blocks, quilt tops etc but I have never heard slab used.

You are doing an incredible thing here, Cheryl. Thank you for helping with this tragedy , comfort will be truly appreciated.
Wow! That is impressive! Glad you have friends to help you out with this monumental task.
Wow! Fantastic progress. I'm tickled to be able to spot my orange slab in the bunch. Thanks for all the work you and your dedicated friends are doing to make these quilts for those needing some comfort.
I've heard the physical devastation is worse than that in the U.S. after Katrina, so you know these people need all the comfort they can get. Bravo on an excellent idea and success in your giving of time and money. God Bless you!
Beautiful designs, they all look amazing. Keep the good work.
