Just One Slab Deadline

Wow!

Slabs are already pouring in. I had to warn my mail man about the packages when he delivered 6 the other day. I even had a highway pick-up that felt slightly illicit, but way more fun. I'm blown away by everyone's enthusiasm.

To answer a few questions:

DEADLINE - July 30, 2013.

I plan on assembling the blocks, with the help of some local friends, in early August. And Andrea has offered to long arm the quilts. Then, I assume a big binding party will happen!

Once you've squared up your block it is helpful to sew a stay stitch around the edge of the block. Just a regular stitch, about 1/8'' of an inch from the edge of the block. It helps prevent seams splitting when the block is going to get handled repeatedly before final assembly.

If you would like to donate quilt tops, completed quilts, backing, or batting I will take those donations as well and make sure they get to the organizations that will be finishing and distributing quilts here.

Thank you so much!

Wow! This is snowballing!! I will have to put in those 'stay stitches' tomorrow, and they will be heading down the highway and personally delivered by my sister Dominique... sure wish it were me doing the delivery!

I would love to help with the binding when you have a few ready :) I'm in Calgary so just shoot me an email and I'll come to pick a couple up.

I put 8 in the mail today which of course are not staystitched. The next ones will be.

Excellent idea on the stay-stitching! Hopefully I'll remember to do that before I send mine. Would you mind sending your address?

Hi Cheryl

We live in Ontario, a group of us is making blocks, tops, quilts. Have you started a list of people, names, contact numbers, that will be receiving them? Everytime I am involved with quilts, all over the world we get this information collected as soon as possible. Ensuring the success of the endeavor. As all future projects depends on the aid/quilts reaching the people it was intended in the first place. It is a two fold method, one knowing who and how many quilts, the second part is to make the delivery of the quilts to their new forever homes more effective.

Kindest regards.

Elizabeth

I also have a couple of completed blocks to send you. Could you please email me your address? I have not yet stay stitched them but will do so before they go in the mail.
Thanks so much, Melissia

Ouch! I'm so sorry I didn't get the info on stay-stitching and I've already sent mine. Hopefully, I'll be the exception rather than the rule.

What width binding are you going to use? Do you need binding?

Hey Cheryl - I finished a couple of the slabs. Why have I not tried this method before, had a blast making them and dreaming up possibilities for later projects. Would you mind sending me your address and I can either drop them off to you or put them in the mail.
