Storage! Funky retro storage!
Or...
Horribly tacky, tourist storage.
I picked these up off the floor of my Mom's garage. She'd had a garage sale a few weeks before and shockingly, shockingly, no one bought them. I do remember them hiding in the closet of my parents' room and I have a vague recollection of the trip to Acapulco where these originated. Obviously they were well loved because my Mom found a bottle of rum from the same trip in the bags.
And now they hold in progress quilt projects. Hubby even kind of likes them. Then again, anything is probably preferable to a plastic bin in the corner. The small one holds my Maple Leaf blocks (more to share on those next week).

I just came across mine this week, and thought "I need to get rid of this thing"......now it can be repurposed! Thanks for the inspiration, as there are MANY WIP's to be stored!
V & Co said to come say hi for her giveaway ...and I do love that book of yours! I will be reading through your blog today - the bindings entries look interesting!

Arrived here from V & Co. and I'm always happy to find another fellow Canadian quilter/blogger! Your book is on my wish list. Congrats on getting your own sewing room soon - you'll wonder what you ever did without it!
Cheryl, I'm coming from Vanessa's to say hello. I have followed Amanda Jean for a while and the book looks so good. I've never been over here, so I will look around!
Just stopping by from Vanessa's to tell you that I would love to win your book. I have checked it out so much from my library that I can't get it anymore =(
I LOVE everything you guys do in this book
I love this bag
Vanessa sent me!
I think you have great calves! oh dear that sounds really creepy!!! actually I just love your awesomeness!!
Cool basket and great idea to use something "not plastic" for quilt projects. I use pizza boxes (new). The only downside is that you can't see through them.
Vanessa at V & Co. sent me to say "hi". She's doing a giveaway of your book and some of her Simply Color.
Wish me luck.
I'm here from V & Co to say HI to you! I like your blog!!!

Hi Cheryl! I hope you are enjoying your weekend! Sent here from V&Co, and am supposed to be admiring your baby cows, but I didn't realize you were raising them - haha. I've had your book since it came out, and I LOVE it! All the best.
I didn't realize they still had these :-)! Great idea for quilts.

Oh my gosh! You just brought back very old memories! My Mom used to carry a bag just like that (minus the Accupulco part) during the summer when I was a young girl. She just LOVED hers but hers had pink and turquoise flowers on it.
I wandered over from Vanessa's blog. I figured I'd mention the purse rather than your great calves since I don't really know you too well though. LOL
First time visitor from V & Co. Fun new find for me.
Howdy, saw your book, it looks great, on V and Co. Funny, love those 'holiday' bags as they do make great storage for quilts and knitting stuff.
