Finally.
As Hubby and I were walking down the aisle a little over 10 years ago our entire bridal party shouted out FINALLY! Sheesh, we hadn't been dating that long (6 years). Well, that's how I feel now. Finally, I am done with two major deadlines. Finally, I am outside enjoying time with the girls in the summer heat. Finally, I am able to look at my son with clear eyes, just in time to see all that drool. And finally, I am able to quilt. FINALLY!
I've got a stack of quilts just waiting for their pass through my Pfaff. I would love to say that they will all get done this summer, but I'm more realistic than that. There are gin and tonics to be drunk, peach pies to be made, neighbours to hang with, and those kids who need more attention than the slip and slide can provide.
Up top I'm working on a special quilt, but it is intense to work on for both the emotions and the quilting. In the pile TBQ (to be quilted) are our anniversary quilt, a Cosmic Burst baby quilt, and a quilt top I picked up for a song. I'm not sure why, but I really, really want to get all these quilted before I move on to anything else. Do you ever do that? Have quilt stacked up in one part of the process? Or are you a start to finish kind of person?
Updated: I found 3 more quilt tops to be quilted!

In my ideal world, I'm a start to finish person. In the real world, not so much :) One urgent project is always pushing aside the less urgent project.
Enjoy your summer relaxation! We are going away for a few days in two weeks and I can't wait.
I feel so guilty if I don't finish a project before starting a new one! but.... having a few block of the months on the go has eased that feeling abit! I wish i was a bit more easy going in that area! I keep thinking that fall is just around the corner & I'll have lots of time to finish "That one".
I like to have a project "on the go". this means I have 4 half finished quilts all sitting on my table waiting for me to work on them. I'm usually pretty dilligent until I get to the binding stage and then they can sit for a while... I just find handstitching takes so long I put it off.
But my husband has made a rule that I can only have 4. If I want to start another one I have to finish one of my current projects. This seems to work ok, at the moment.
I generally seem to have several quilting projects on the go at once and don't hesitate to start a new one if I need to. As I see this as my hobby to relax, there should be no stress if my heart is in a different place. I have found that if I push to finish something that I am not that interested in doing right now I don't do the best job on it. But everyone is different. I am glad you are finding time to relax and to quilt.
I hear you on all those other things needing attention. Summer passes too quick and you need some time to absorb it.
There is so much in life we all want isn't there! I can't wait to see your Hubby's quilt come together! I am a finisher on tops and then well I have not really gotten the whole 'quilting' them down yet so to date I have only quilted three quilts (several minis, and mug rugs, and table runners). But can I admit that I have nine quilts that I have to just suck it up and quilt!! :o)
Another big milestone :-) !!!!! Congrats!
I love to finish projects but I'm often swayed by shiny new ones and whichever deadlines scream loudest.
Multiple projects is the way I work best....it keeps my creativity flowing. I'm with Leanne..it's my hobby, so no guilt or stess.
I have a lot of different projects going at one time - at lots of different stages. I only like to work on something if I'm 'in the mood' for doing it, so it helps me accomplish more if I have quilts at all stages, so if the mood strikes me to quilt, I can quilt. If I get the urge to just sew blocks together, I can do that. Feel like hand sewing? There's probably a binding to hand sew finish. Feel like making big progress - sew blocks together to make a top. I probably have at least 5 projects in progress right now!
I have a small stack of pieced quilt tops, all waiting to be finished... and I am waiting for some quiet winter days to put me in the mood!
Nope. If it's not a dealine, it probably will wait to be finished. Enjoy the rest of your summer : )
Start to finish, each one. Drives me crazy but it's how I work. I intend to evolve this fall.
