Really?

My husband and I had another hot date basting a quilt the other day. This one is a wedding present for his best friend. So we're basting away, watching Machete (really?) and a Stephen Hawking documentary on alien life, when he says this:

You know, this quilt would have been even cooler if you've matched up all these grey circles on the background fabric.

Really?

  1. I think in guy-speak that's actually a compliment because he said "even cooler." That means he thinks the quilt is already really cool.

  2. Sounds like my hubby. Did you punch him? :)

  3. Really?? He said that??? Sound so much like my Mr.P. Hard enough to get the seams to match up, let alone the pattern too!

    Men! *sigh*

  5. Did you hand him two squares of the fabric and tell him to give it a try? :) Talk about easier said than done!

  7. I agree with Amy - he can help you do that next time! ;)

  8. My mom would have rolled her eyes and said, "Well bless your flat little head."

  9. I would have leaned over and kissed him for noticing and caring enough to comment. I totally see it as a compliment too.

  10. wow.. he helps!!! if that doesnt make him the coolest!!!

i agree with everyone else, i think it was sweet, he did say even cooler, and the fact that he thinks you are capable of that shows that he believes you can do anything!

  12. Haha, that would be the most impressive (and impossible) thing ever! I thought you were showing of your perfect points because those are cool.

  13. I don't even know what to say to that comment. What DID you say??

  14. Atleast he thinks its somewhat cool!
It would take WAAAAY too much time and seam-ripping to get the circles to match up! Everyone knows that!

And tell him he's a dufus.

  15. *laughs*

I hope you told him that he can make the next one and work at getting the little grey circles to match and show you how it's done! :D

But at least he said "even cooler" and not just "would be cool."

  16. Awww...but hey, you've obviously got him well trained that he'd notice something like that!

  17. If you had taken the time and meticulously matched the circles, I think I might have had to call the perfection police and had you remanded into the custody of trained mental health professionals... :-)

He didn't notice the epic precision of your points? That alone makes me jealous!

  19. Is he still alive? Sounds like the day DH and I went out to lunch the day after I finished redoing my bathroom he said I should look at another bathroom because ours would look great like that.

  20. Hey, match up his 'circles' with the flat side of a cast iron frying pan. It works here. That's why DH's head is flat. ;)

  21. That's funny. I had that circle fabric and I gave it away, now you're making me wish I still had it.

  22. Ha - all they guys my husband works with have been telling him to watch Machete. I'm suspect.

So, what was your response to the stupid circle comment?
