Friday Favourites: Acapulco Bags

Storage! Funky retro storage!

Or...

Horribly tacky, tourist storage.

I picked these up off the floor of my Mom's garage. She'd had a garage sale a few weeks before and shockingly, shockingly, no one bought them. I do remember them hiding in the closet of my parents' room and I have a vague recollection of the trip to Acapulco where these originated. Obviously they were well loved because my Mom found a bottle of rum from the same trip in the bags.

And now they hold in progress quilt projects. Hubby even kind of likes them. Then again, anything is probably preferable to a plastic bin in the corner. The small one holds my Maple Leaf blocks (more to share on those next week).

  13. Cool basket and great idea to use something "not plastic" for quilt projects. I use pizza boxes (new). The only downside is that you can't see through them.

Vanessa at V & Co. sent me to say "hi". She's doing a giveaway of your book and some of her Simply Color.
    Wish me luck.

  40. Oh my gosh! You just brought back very old memories! My Mom used to carry a bag just like that (minus the Accupulco part) during the summer when I was a young girl. She just LOVED hers but hers had pink and turquoise flowers on it.

I wandered over from Vanessa's blog. I figured I'd mention the purse rather than your great calves since I don't really know you too well though. LOL
