But I kinda feel water runs horizontally unless you've got reeds happening. I shall 'stay tuned'!ellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15188791638739872773noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7593114644785141187.post-34775464666076855632009-08-04T08:56:11.476-06:002009-08-04T08:56:11.476-06:00I like it, think it's pretty. Also it's not reading blue. But I guess it depends on what water you want it to remind you of. There's a lot of green in some water.Gwen Papphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18199507214063130756noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7593114644785141187.post-62103807566999901342009-08-04T08:11:58.357-06:002009-08-04T08:11:58.357-06:00I too think it is interesting, but resembles grass...I too think it is interesting, but resembles grass more than water. Lower rightist is my fav.
When I squint at it I don't get water... I think the change in direction is too extreme. I think you could get a real ripple effect if it was more in a waveish pattern or rippley.
1.I may not have cut them all the strips the same size or used a rotary cutter for that matter to give it that ripple look .
2.I would join the strip sets at a much reduced angle. Instead of 90 degrees I would try between 15-40 goiing from side to side or diagonally from the upper corner.
3. steeper angles around "rocks or logs of you add solid blocks.
4. I don't think the yellows read "water" I would ditch them. Same with the blue fabric with the black squares.

IM coming back tomorrow! I love giving an opinion... no harm no foul just saying what I think...
seriously! don't even listen to me... just let me talk.. :)2ndAvenueStudio-Rachelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13883502857437987115noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7593114644785141187.post-45946656831693212732009-08-03T23:00:21.783-06:002009-08-03T23:00:21.783-06:00I like the upper right section. The two darker strips give the piece a little more depth, something about how far apart the darks are from each other work in that section more than in the other parts. My only comment would be the top right horizontal piece seems a little bit heavy. If it was slightly thinner (say a strip or two less) I think that issue would be solved. Looking forward to the rest of your layouts! *I agree with others though that it really depends on the rest of the quilt... because the heaviness issue could be solved depending on what block was put next to it.RunwithStickshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13239818023571753527noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7593114644785141187.post-38595825731915172412009-08-03T22:43:16.139-06:002009-08-03T22:43:16.139-06:00hmm - what you got for tomorrow?? I really like the movement on the right side of the quilt, but I don't really like the horizontal pieces next to each other in the lower left.
